Your employer's part

This online course does not replace the training your employer must give on your own job: site-specific training, and hands-on practice and evaluation where the rule requires them.

What this course does not do

Your employer still sets the hot work procedure for your plant, authorizes hot work, assigns a fire watch and instructs you on your equipment. This course does not qualify you to weld and does not replace hands-on practice with a torch or an extinguisher. The rule sets no minimum training time. The training duty is Section 3203(a)(7), and annual extinguisher education is Section 6151(g). This course covers general industry, not the Construction Safety Orders for welding on construction sites. This is the Cal/OSHA course, and federal OSHA's rules differ in several places. A federal OSHA version of this course is sold separately. The course is online only.
