Read this before you rent it for a confined space entry

The MGT is a diffusion instrument. Gas reaches the sensors by moving into the instrument on its own, which means it reports the air it is sitting in and nothing else. That makes it the right tool worn on the body during work inside a space, and the wrong tool for testing a space nobody has entered yet.

Under 29 CFR 1910.146(d)(5)(i) the atmosphere has to be tested before entry is authorized, which means before a head crosses the opening. That test has to be taken from outside the space, and it needs a pump and a probe.

If the entry is the reason for the rental, ask us for the pumped SP-MGTP instead, or alongside it. A common and defensible setup is one pumped instrument per crew for the pre entry test, and a diffusion monitor worn by each entrant during the work. We rent the pumped instrument too, quoted on request.

Bump test gas for the duration of the rental is quoted with the unit. A monitor that has not been bump tested is a monitor whose sensors you are trusting on faith, so we would rather send you the gas than have you skip it.
