Terms of service

Terms of Service

Terms version 1.0. Effective July 11, 2026.

  1. The service

The Safety Line gives your business ongoing access to the M Squared safety team, who carry more than twenty years managing contractor safety programs, for guidance on day-to-day workplace safety questions. You reach us by email, and we get you a straight answer. You can also ask us to reply by phone callback or Zoom.

2. What is included

Guidance on everyday safety questions and judgment calls, such as recordkeeping including OSHA 300 logs, what to do about a citation, and how to start a written program. An unlimited number of questions, answered within one business day during business hours. Reasonable, good-faith use by a single business.

3. Response times and hours

We respond within one business day, and often the same business day. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm Pacific. Questions received after hours or on weekends are answered the next business day.

This is not an emergency service. If a person is injured or in immediate danger, call 911 and follow your emergency action plan. Do not wait on us.

4. Fair use

The line is built for the normal questions one contractor runs into. It is not a 24/7 emergency line and it is not staffed for unlimited, on-demand calls.

One subscription covers one business. The service may not be shared across companies, resold, or used on behalf of your clients, subcontractors, or other businesses. Use that is excessive, automated, or for resale falls outside fair use, and we will talk with you about moving to a paid engagement that fits.

5. What is not included

The Safety Line is advisory guidance. It does not include, and is not a substitute for, certificated or high-hazard training and topics such as fall protection, scaffold, confined space, OSHA 10 and 30, and respiratory protection; on-site jobsite inspections, audits, and field coverage; building or formally maintaining your written programs such as the IIPP, Heat Illness plan, Code of Safe Practices, and Emergency Action Plan; a formal safety program audit; representing you with OSHA or serving as your safety department of record; and legal advice. Guidance is not a legal opinion, and you remain responsible for your own compliance decisions and for the safety of your people.

When a question crosses into any of the above, we will tell you and quote the right engagement.

6. What standards we advise on

Guidance is based on Federal OSHA standards, which cover most private employers. In California, we also advise on Cal/OSHA, which is the only state program we advise on.

Roughly half the states operate their own OSHA-approved plans that may require more than the Federal baseline. If your business is in one of those states, our Federal guidance is a starting point, and any state-specific requirement is your responsibility and is handled through a paid engagement rather than the Safety Line.

7. Where the Safety Line is available

The Safety Line is available to businesses across the United States, except that we do not accept subscribers based in New York, Washington, or Oregon.

8. Billing, renewal, and cancellation

$99 per month, billed monthly, or $990 per year paid up front, which is two months free. No setup fee.

Plans renew automatically at the same price until you cancel. Monthly plans renew each month. Annual plans renew each year.

Cancel anytime, online, through your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. You will not be billed again after you cancel.

For annual plans, we will send you a reminder before each annual renewal, telling you what is renewing, the renewal date, and how to cancel.

If we ever change the price, we will give you clear notice and instructions on how to cancel, no less than 7 and no more than 30 days before the change takes effect.

9. Refunds

There are no refunds. We do not refund the current billing period, monthly or annual, including any unused portion. When you cancel, your access continues through the end of the period you already paid for, and you are simply not billed again after that.

10. Limitation of liability, and how disputes are handled

The Safety Line provides awareness-level guidance to help you make informed decisions. It is not legal advice, not a formal compliance determination, and not a substitute for a qualified professional evaluating your actual worksite. You remain responsible for your own compliance decisions.

Our total liability arising out of or relating to this subscription is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be resolved by binding arbitration seated in Orange County, California, and you and M Squared each waive the right to participate in a class action.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated before they take effect, and where required we will ask you to accept the updated terms.
