Your employer's part
This online course does not replace the training your employer must give on your own job: site-specific training, and hands-on practice and evaluation where the rule requires them.
What this course does not do
This course does not make you a qualified rigger or a qualified signal person. Your employer decides who is qualified for each rigging task, and a signal person must also pass a practical test (1926.1428). Your employer must still instruct you on the unsafe conditions of your own job (1926.21(b)(2)). The course does not teach crane operation, load weights, lift planning or crane assembly, or the sling rules for general industry or shipyards. This is the federal OSHA course. If you work in a state with its own OSHA-approved plan, your state may have different or more stringent rules. The course is online only.
