Your employer's part
This online course does not replace the training your employer must give on your own job: site-specific training, and hands-on practice and evaluation where the rule requires them.
What this course does not do
Before you work, your employer must see you show that you understand and can use your PPE (1910.132(f)(2); 8 CCR 3380(f)(5)). This course does not do that step, and it cannot check how your PPE fits you or watch you put it on. It does not replace your employer's written hazard assessment of your workplace (1910.132(d); 8 CCR 3380(f)(1), (2)). In California, your employer must also verify your PPE training in a written record with your name, the training dates and the subject (8 CCR 3380(f)(7)). Respirators, hearing protection and fall protection have their own training rules and their own courses. The course teaches general industry rules. Construction work follows 29 CFR Part 1926, and in California, Section 3380(f) does not apply to work regulated by the Construction Safety Orders, so construction has its own PPE courses. This course covers federal OSHA and Cal/OSHA. If you work in another state with its own OSHA-approved plan, that state may have different or more stringent rules. The course is online only.
