It is not for entry supervisors or rescue teams.

How it works
- You take the course online, at your own pace, on a phone or a computer.
- The final exam opens after at least 60 minutes of active study in the lessons.
- Each topic lesson ends with practice questions that do not count toward your score.
- The final exam has 25 questions drawn at random. You need 80 percent to pass, and you get 3 attempts.
- When you pass the final exam, you finish the online classroom part. M Squared Safety Solutions, Inc. issues your certificate of completion after it reviews your employer's signed hands-on checklist. The certificate expires 1 year after it is issued.
- This course is also available in Spanish: Trabajador autorizado para entrar y asistente en espacios confinados en la construcción, parte teórica (OSHA federal y Cal/OSHA): capacitación en línea.
The hands-on part, at your workplace
- This product is the online classroom part. Your employer evaluates your hands-on skills at your workplace with the M Squared hands-on checklist: download the checklist (PDF).
- Your employer emails the signed checklist to matt@msquaredsafety.com and monica@msquaredsafety.com. You upload nothing.
- M Squared reviews the checklist, then marks the course complete and your certificate is issued.
- The course never qualifies, certifies, designates or authorizes anyone. Your employer decides who is an authorized entrant or an attendant, certifies your training (29 CFR 1926.1207(d); 8 CCR 1956(d)) and names you on the entry permit.
Questions
Call an M Squared trainer at 949-954-6581, Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Pacific time. A trainer answers in English and Spanish.
Your employer's part
This online course does not replace the training your employer must give on your own job: site-specific training, and hands-on practice and evaluation where the rule requires them.
What this course does not do
Your employer must still train you on your site's spaces and equipment, check your skills with the M Squared hands-on checklist, and name you on the entry permit. This course does not include rescue practice, gas meter use or respirator fit testing. It does not decide who may enter a space. Your employer certifies that your training is done (29 CFR 1926.1207(d); 8 CCR 1956(d)). This course covers construction. Excavations and other work outside the construction rules are outside its scope, and general industry confined space entry (29 CFR 1910.146; 8 CCR 5157) is a different course. Federal OSHA rules apply across the country, and Cal/OSHA enforces Title 8 in California. If you work in another state with its own OSHA-approved plan, that state may have different or more stringent rules.
