This course teaches what OSHA's letters say and the NIOSH, OSHA and Cal\/OSHA guidance, and says which is a rule and which is guidance. It has no hands-on lifting practice, and it cannot see your worksite or watch you lift. Your employer chooses your lifting aids and, in California where it applies, runs the Section 5110 program. The course does not teach the California rules for patient handling in general acute care hospitals (Section 5120) or for hotel housekeepers (Section 3345), or forklifts, cranes and other powered equipment. This course covers federal OSHA and Cal\/OSHA. If you work in another state with its own OSHA-approved plan, that state may have different or more stringent rules.
